he mewed when he saw a rat scurry across his path, screeching and baring its teeth. He looked back, and was going to sit down, but murky water that soaked the stone beneath him wasn't something you wanted to sit in. "You coming?" [/ul]

((I'm guessing he's talking to Lorelei.)) Lorelei picked her way around some Twoleg trash, and called, "Of course I'm coming." Her ears flicked as they heard a rat's screech, but she tried to ignore it. She could still sort of remember some of the fighting moves she had learned in the Clans, though she wasn't entirely sure she could use them. Which brought back the threat of the rats to mind. He gave a ^^ face and continued onward. "We should be getting there soon," he meowed and jumped up onto a pile of rubble, then hopped from garbage can lid to a wooden platform to a soggy box. The soggy box gave way and Bobo went sputtering down into it. He burst from it moments later with a smile as though it had never happened. Up ahead, trouble. It was like a lake of water. Cold water, since the sun hadn't touched it all day. All of the mud and dirt had settled at the bottom of it, and some trash was floating around. Up ahead, waaay up ahead, the the lake ended and the alley turned to an unseen place, which was where you could see their destination in the distance. Bobo looked back at Lorelei and meowed, "Well, you wanna run it?" ((So ya know, Monty is a cat in the making. XD )) [/ul]

Lorelei looked at the water, with its Twoleg trash, and shuddered internally. Despite that, she shrugged. "Sure, why not? Backing up a bit, so she could pick up speed before she hit the water, Lorelei prepared to run. The water didn't look deep to her, so it wouldn't be hard to run it. Hopefully. Lorelei tensed, and then shot forward. If not good in battle, she was pretty fast. The water slowed her down some, but she ran onwards. The water felt slimy against her fur, no doubt from the trash that floated in it. When she reached the other side, she sighed internally. At last! "It's not really bad, just a bit cold," Lorelei said, shaking the water from her fur. [/blockquote]

He led the way around the corner. Then he saw it: the main Twoleg road. Everything was along it: grocery stores, malls, food places, everything. [/ul]

Lorelei, who had followed Bobo onto the street, instantly was utterly confused. "Why are we here?" Lorelei whispered, her throat suddenly dry. She considered going back to get a drink, but the greasy, slimy feel of the water on her fur kept her from doing that.

He zig zagged through parked cars and found his way onto the sidewalk. Then he saw it. He shot across the street and he was there. The drive in... Not many of these cool restaurants were around anymore. Twolegs could just park their cars there and get food instead of having to go into the building. The food comes to them... He licked his lips and looked back at Lorelei. "This is it," he meowed. "Sometimes Twolegs will see you and give you food. But I like the buffet." [/ul]

"The... buffet?" Lorelei was confused. "What's a buffet? And... is this one of the food-places called restraunts?"
((XD Poor, clueless Lorelei. She's never been this far away from her Twoleg nest before.))

He started walking. "-almost all of restaurants require Twolegs to get out of their cars, go into the building, wait for who knows how long while sitting in a booth or chair or just standing by the counter, and then get the food, eat, then go back to their car and drive somewhere else."Bobo stopped and sniffed the air. The scents tickled his nose and he sneezed. Then he continued on slowly. "This, is a drive in. There are not many left anymore, which only they know why, but it seems like the best thing compared to everywhere else." He paused for a bit, but then continued, "In a drive in, all Twolegs have to do is park somewhere, wait for a lady to come to them, they order, the the lady goes back to get the food. Yes, it takes just as long as anywhere else, but sometimes it's faster, yet sometimes it's longer. But sooner or later the lady will come with the food to your car and give it to you. The food comes to you."He smiled. "But apparently, you need money to get food and all other sorts of things. That's why Twolegs leave for a while without bringing you during the day. They're at a job, and that's where they get all of their money so they can go to stores and restaurants to get stuff. I don't have money, since there are no jobs for cats, but like I said: You can beg for some fresh food, and people might give you a little, or you could go to the buffet. Sometimes the food is cold, sometimes it's warm. But usually it's still good." With that being said, Bobo picked up the pace. "Right there," he meowed, flicking his tail towards their destination. "That, my friend, is the buffet." Now he charged towards it, nearly slamming into its side. It was a dumpster, but it was surprisingly clean. "Come on, help yourself!" he yowled from the top of a pile of food/garbage. [/ul]

Lorelei followed Bobo to the "buffet" and followed him onto it. The scents of food wafted up. And right at the top was a thing that she had seen Twolegs eat on the Night of Exploding Lights and Loud Noises and on other days in the warmer months. "That's a burger!" she said in recognition after a moment.
((By the way, the Night of Exploding Lights and Loud Noises is Lorelei's name for the Fourth of July. 'Cuz of the fireworks.)) [/blockquote]

Bobo picked his way down to Lorelei and sniffed the burger. "This is a cheese and-" He sniffed it again. "BACON! Whoooa, you're lucky. Not many of those are around, and bacon is just delicious! Sometimes my owner, Mary, gives me some at breakfast time."Then he dug down deep and found a small box of cheese curds. "Not a bad find," he meowed, half to himself. "You know," he meowed inbetween mouthfuls. "Sometimes you can even find a soda cup that has a few drops of something in it. It's like water, but it tastes better. And they're the weirdest colors. Some taste bad, but some taste good." [/ul]

Lorelei munched on the cheeseburger, a purr thrumming from her. "This really is good," she said. Once she had eaten that, she started sniffing around for one of those soda cups. She had lapped up some spilled soda once. It had been purple, and had tasted fizzy. Eventually, Lorelei located one of the soda cups. The soda was different from the purple soda she had drunk. It was a brown so dark it was almost black, and it wasn't as fizzy. It was still good, though. "Mmm!" Lorelei licked her lips. "How did you find this place?" [/blockquote]

He stuck his nose into a box and came up with something white on his nose. Bobo swiped his tongue up and licked it off. "Oooooh! I hit the jackpot!" He jammed his face back inside. [/ul]

Lorelei shrugged, and nibbled at some cooling cheesy fries. The cheese was starting to get hard, so she gave up on that after a minute or two, and began searching for something else. She eventually found the last remains of a shake.

Lorelei licked the last remains of vanilla off of her whiskers, and considered the idea. "Sure," she agreed. After all, this had been fun. A movie would be fun, too.

Lorelei dashed past the car, and caught up with Bobo. She slowed her pace to match his, though she would have liked to go a little faster, to distance herself from the car. "So how do you find all of these places?" Lorelei asked. "Just by wandering around town?"
