(Mwahaha. First training session between Sandhorse and Windpaw, much? X3 I'm just starting in the territory because we'd only be in camp for, like, five posts.)
The sandy-colored tom poked his head into the apprentice den, smiling at his new apprentice. "Mornin', Windpaw!" he whispered so as not to wake up Flowerpaw. He also nudged the black tom to make sure he was getting the other tom up. "I want an early start today," Sandhorse explained, stepping away from the entrance and gesturing towards the freshkill pile with his tail. "You should get something to eat before we go."

Windpaw blinked open his eyes, and quickly got to his paws. Luckily, he didn't wake his sister in doing so. "So, Sandhorse," Windpaw asked, "what're we going to do today?" He grabbed a piece of prey from the pile, and began to eat it.

The warrior's tail was high with excitement. "Today we're going to see all the Clan borders, and FourStreams, if we have time." Sandhorse watched the apprentice eat, slightly regretting having eaten before he woke Windpaw up.

Windpaw finished his fresh-kill, and got to his paws. "Okay, let's go then!" On the inside, he was gloating about starting training before Flowerpaw.

Sandhorse nodded and padded out of camp, not exactly waiting for Windpaw to follow.
While on the way, he asked, "So, Windpaw, what've you heard about being an apprentice?"

Windpaw ran to catch up, and just caught Sandhorse's question. "I've heard that it's a lot of work, but it's also a lot of fun," he said. "And that apprentices usually get chores like taking care of elders." He wrinkled his nose- he wasn't exactly looking forward to that.

The warrior purred with amusement, as if he could see Windpaw's expression. "Yes, it doesn't seem like a very fun job, does it? You can hear pretty interesting stories there, though." He looked around. "Here. Over here, we'll start." Sandhorse padded over to an invisible line, settling down. "Breathe in the scent and tell me what you smell."
(We're by the TreeClan territory, by the way.)

Windpaw inhaled deeply. The scent of the forest was one of the most powerful scents- and then there was a Clan scent that he had only ever smelt before in faint scents off of cat's fur. "Well," he said. "I can smell the forest, which is pretty powerful, and I can smell a Clan scent. That's TreeClan scent, right?"

(Would Windpaw even recognize the scent as a specific Clan? Like, besides WaterClan?)

((No. XP I didn't think about that when I was writing it. So now he's guessing, 'cuz he knows the names of the four Clans.))

Sandhorse blinked in surprise. "That's correct. How'd you guess?" He sat down, curling his tail over his large paw, watching Windpaw for his response.

"Well, Silverwind told me a little about the four Clans. Since one was TreeClan, and this territory is a forest, it seemed like TreeClan would live here," Windpaw said. He inhaled deeply, trying to memorize the scent.

"Ohh, yeah, that makes sense." Sandhorse nodded, then waited a while for Windpaw to get the scent in his head. After what seemed like a sufficient amount of time, the cat uprooted and began walking. "Alright. Come along, now!"
They had been walking a while, now, but the powerful tom didn't seem to notice. "O-kay. Here we have out border wi-ith...?"
(You can choose which Clan they're at, now. XP)

Windpaw stopped, and inhaled deeply. "Um, the scent's kinda grassy. So... GrassClan?" He twitched his tail slightly, thinking. "Or is it HillClan? I'm not sure, but the land looks flatter than I would have thought it would be in HillClan territory... so, my guess is GrassClan."
((They're by GrassClan. Cuz it smells grassy.))

Sandhorse nodded. "You were right the first time. This is GrassClan territory! It's led by Pigeonstar. Did you know he's the oldest leader we have right now?" He paused while Windpaw took the scent in. "HillClan has more hill, yeah. Which you'll see if you come with me..."
He hopped back up to his feet, then pranced off to HillClan's border.

Windpaw followed, trying to memorize the scent of GrassClan as he walked. He found this to be a little bit difficult, as he was trying to sort through scents, not run into anything, and not lag behind. After about a minute of doing this, Windpaw decided that he would memorize GrassClan's scent later, when he wasn't following someone.

Purring at his apprentice as they arrived at the HillClan border, Sandhorse stopped abruptly and swung his head around. "As you may have guess," he said cheerily, "we've arrived..."

Windpaw looked at the hilly territory in front of him, and inhaled deeply. "Lots of hills there," he remarked. "Are there rabbits there?"

"There are more on the GrassClan territory, I think," replied Sandhorse, looking out across the territory of the other Clan. "But yeah, HillClan has a wide variety of prey--including rabbits. Or hares. I'm not sure which."

"Mmkay," Windpaw said. He stared across the border at the territory, and then asked, "Where're we going next?"
