Deerpaw shifted towards where Brightstar stood, ears pricked forward.
Gatherings are such good places to be on the full moon...

the false leader wondered, the thought fleeting but--as all her thoughts were, naturally--important. Tilting Pigeonstar's head, the DemonClan cat pretended to listen to Arcticfeather's news. Jynxivy's tail flicked, touching Deerpaw's shoulder lightly. Her eyes were still fixed on the leaders, and was glad for the distraction from Lollpop's eagerness for a verbal disagreement. The two TreeClan warriors also switched their gazes, thought Lightfoot couldn't help but notice Thistlesilk's eyes trailing off to check on the calico WaterClanner. Who was still watching them. Get a life, you freak... Lightfoot thought loudly, whiskers twitching with nerves. She could feel her neck fur beginning to rise--but from irritation or fright, she wasn't sure. Probably both. Twilightsong--who had until recently been boredly watching Mistypaw and her Clanmate--yawned and lazily turned to listen to what Brightstar was saying. Hollystar looks irritated. Perhaps a little shocked. Oh well. Another yawn. It's only a problem if she brings it back to camp.[/ul] (Too lazy to post as Sandhorse and Petalpaw. And Featherpaw, if I had her here, but I don't think I did. Ah well.)

Birdwing blinked in surprise as he noticed Pigeonstar suddenly curl his lip at the other leader. Now he was really interested in what they had to say. But what if they didn't talk about what they had just been quarrelling about? He hoped they would. Birdwing was a very curious cat, and like they say, Curiousity killed the cat, even though he hasn't been killed.... yet. He shook his head. Curiousity was one of his weaknesses. Yet he just couldn't stop wondering who, what, when, where, or how. RainpeltRainpelt looked up hesitantly at her leaders. She wondered silently if Gingerstar was the right cat for the job. But then again, she wondered if she was the right cat for the job. Right now she was only a deputy, but that could change once again. Already she could have been Rainstar, but she turned it down, saying that she wasn't ready. She didn't think that she was. In the future she had all hopes of becoming leader. But then, she wondered if she would last that long. Lots of deputies died before they became leader. Maybe she had passed up the only chance she'd ever get to become Rainstar before she died. She shivered at the possibility and looked back up again. As she stared at Gingerstar, her leader seemed to be acting a little... differently. He looked the same... But something was different. Personality wise. Rainpelt shrugged it off. Maybe it was just nothing. So why worry about nothing? [/ul]

Arcticfeather swallowed, and then spoke. "I bring little news to the Gathering. The colder changes in the season have affected us as is to be expected. Not much has happened." She stepped back, hoping that would pass. She hadn't actually /been/ here for the past moon, after all.
Deerpaw blinked as she listened to the Brightstar speak. There was something almost... tense in the way that the leader spoke. /Is she nervous about talking to all of the Clans? But hasn't she done that often enough...?/

Lollypop glared at the young apprentice once more, trying to convince herself not to stare to hard and use her "power", and looked up to HillClan's leader. She rolled her eyes. "How original," she muttered. Nothing ever new. That's why she didn't like Gatherings. She only liked them when there was actually news to report. Otherwise it was just a way to stay up late. Then she'd be tired in the morning. Maybe one of the other leaders will have something to say.SnowstarSnowstar stepped forward, wanting to get the humiliation over with. She didn't know what to say. She hadn't been with WaterClan for the past moon, though she had been able to look into the Black Pool many times to watch her sister. She cleared her throat. Then, trying to summon up the skills she had had when she had been leader of WaterClan, for ever short a time that was, she began. "WaterClan has been doing just fine. We..." She thought for a moment, searching her mind to remember if anyone had been apprenticed or been made a warrior, etc. "We have made a new warrior this moon. Birdwing has joined us tonight and seems to be doing just fine with his new duties." She tried to remember again. If she forgot anyone, that would be a red flag right there. She smiled. Though it looked like she was smiling for Birdwing, she wasn't. It would ruin my sister's reputation if SHE messed up at a Gathering..."Otherwise," she continued, "there is nothing new to report. We are still finding prey, and everything is well." She dipped her head and sat down. BirdwingBirdwing's ears perked up at the mention of his name. Then he noticed that HOLLYSTAR, his LEADER, was announcing it at a GATHERING. She was talking about how he had been made a warrior. He tried not to look to embarrassed as some cats' eyes wandered to meet him. He felt like his pelt was on fire, even though he wasn't really any color of the sort. He flicked his tail, as if dismissing the subject, yet he still felt pride in himself. [/ul]

((XP I know. I've just been roleplaying on sites with no HTML, so I got in the habit.))
Mistypaw flicked Birdwing with her tail. "Congrats. Again." Her amber eyes flickered with good cheer.

Casting off these thoughts, Crookedtears stepped forward, nodding stiffly to Snowstar/Hollystar. "GrassClan is doing fine as well." She winced at the sound of the male leader's slightly rough voice, but the movement would be barely noticeable to the cats not immediately around her. "We have several apprentices that should be made into warriors soon, though no new names to announce tonight," Crookedtears added, praying this was true. She hadn't noticed any activity around any particular young cat, so she figured her assumption was safe. Wracking her brain--had her intelligence been lowered when she entered the tom's body? No! Focus!--the 'leader' flicked her tail and settled back. That should be it...The WaterClan medicine cat twitched her ears. "They're all being rather vague, don't you think...?" she asked no one in particular, though her bushy tail brushed against her apprentice absently. Lightfoot--now disturbed by Gigglebox and Lollypop--returned her attention to the leaders as Pigeonstar said his piece. At Jynxivy's comment, she nodded, glancing again at Thistlesilk. "What do you think of all this?"The tom opened his mouth, about to give a soft reply, but was quickly interrupted by Gigglebox, who apparently assumed the TreeClanner was talking to her. "There's something in the air tonight." The calico shrugged, oblivious to Lightfoot's surprised blink. It was probably the first sane thing she'd said this evening. "Tension, perhaps. You can almost hear them gnashing their pearly-whites. Very bad for their teeth, that is."And she was back. The silver she-cat sighed, shooting a questioning look at Thistlesilk, who merely lowly muttered, "Still obsessed with fangs, then...No surprises there..."[/ul]

Deerpaw inched away from Gigglebox. The warrior could /terrify/ her sometimes. But on the other hand... Gigglebox had a point.
"Do you think that maybe they have a... secret?" The appentice's eyes widened. "What if something... bad is going to happen? Wouldn't they tell the Clans? And... if they're not telling... /why/?"

important, Deerpaw. If something is on their minds that they need to share with the Clans, they'll probably wait until after the Gathering to talk with us."[/ul]

Deerpaw nodded slowly, seeing Jynxivy's point. She didn't exactly reply, just tilted her head back to stare at the sky.
After a long moment, she lowered her head again, and began studiously washing a forepaw. Well, no one was really talking, and her neck was starting to hurt a bit.
