"Nice kill!" Feralclaw meowed as a sign of respect. He quickly sneered to try and hide his slight intimidation.

Featherpaw shot the tom a glare. He wasn't too much older than her. She was about half his age. Plus, Icefoot was her mentor. Not really wanting to wait around in the cold, not moving, and practically begging for the chill to wash over her, Featherpaw got up and went in search of a piece of prey.

She nodded slightly to show she had heard and padded back to beside the Great Hill to eat. She crouched down over the rabbit and tore into it, the warmth of it seeping into her.
(One of yous can go and find Lichenstar. He's ontop of the Great Hill, laying on his side as if he was sleeping or something. Yes, his eyes are closed. XD If Featherpaw found him, she could be emotionally scarred for life! If Feralclaw found him... He could be emotionally scarred for life!)

Feralclaw slowly crept around the base of the hill, spotting a thin vole speed across from a dead bush. Feralclaw quickly bounded around a rock and leaped around the vole to get behind it. After a little bit of chasing, Feralclaw quickly pounced, sinking his front claws into the back of the vole's neck, killing it with a bite to the same spot. "Hah! Gotcha." Feralclaw muttered with slight excitement. He took a small bite to satisfy a bit of his hunger.

Featherpaw, thick tail twitching with agitation, made her way up the large hill, wondering why the heck is was so large in the first place. She stopped when a new site reached her gaze.
Eyes wide, the she-apprentice stepped forward. "Lichenstar?" she asked, voice scraping slightly in her throat. She gently place a paw on him, and felt the cold that meant his blood was no longer flowing. Featherpaw screamed, first as a high-pitched keening, then enough to echo down to the other HillClan cats.

"Nice catch," Rainpelt meowed through a mouthful of freshkill.
(I have a mouthful of string cheese at this moment. ^^)

"Hee. Thanks. Was it just me, or did Featherpaw just scream?!" Feralclaw said with a bit of worrying.

Rainpelt jumped to her paws and ran up the Great Hill, taking great bounds up and up and up. She reached the top without even having to stop for breath when she saw what Featherpaw had discovered. She slowly padded forward, wondering at first why Lichenstar was sleeping at the top of the Great Hill. She lowered her head against his and heard not the slightest of breath.

Feralclaw heard silence, and that was awfully ominous. Feralclaw quickly turned away from his leftover prey and sprinted up the hill without stopping. He skidded to a stop right next to where everybody else was. "L-Lichenstar?" Feralclaw said with a bit of a tear in his eye. He realized at that moment Lichenstar was dead. He bowed his head, and suddenly started to weep. Feralclaw sighed and yawned to try and hide it, but then the tears kept coming. He closed his eyes. He hadn't known Lichenstar very long, but already he missed him very much.

Rainpelt shook her head. "We didn't even know he was on his last life. He must have died from just plain old age. Unless he was sick, but I didn't see him coughing or anything. She wondered what would happen now. The voice in her head replied, You shall become leader! Leader of HillClan! You shall be Rainstar! She didn't want to be leader. She wanted to be Deputy.

Featherpaw backed away a little more, mouth slightly parted, but no longer were screams coming out. She pressed herself to the ground, shivering with shock and chill.

"Man, how are we gonna break the news to the rest of Hillclan without us sobbing our tails off?" Feralclaw said as yet another glistening tear streamed down his face. (He's kinda emo as you can see.)

Rainpelt looked over to Featherpaw and crouched down beside her. She pressed against the young apprentice for comfort, and not just for Featherpaw's benefit.

The apprentice buried her face into the deputy and sobbed, finally closing her eyes to shut out the view of Lichenstar's body. "He came to me when I was a kit," she blubbered, pressing harder into Rainpelt. "After I got lost as a kit...He didn't yell at me, like I thought he would..." Tears were dampening both she-cats' fur. "He told me a story of him sneaking out as a kit, instead!"

(hee hee. Blubbered. Not to sound like an English teacher or anything, but that was very good word choice..)
Feralclaw gently padded over, tears starting to fall again. He sat down next to both of them, bowing his head. "Yes, Lichenstar was a very good guy." He stated. Feralclaw looked up over his head at the cloudy sky. "He's probably happy to be in Starclan now. Still. It's painful in all of us Hillclan cats to lose one we held very close." He meowed as if speaking as a leader.

"Shhhhhh," Rainpelt soothed. "We have suffered a great loss, but it has made us stronger."

Her sobs died away, and she noticed she was cold. That made her think of how cold Lichenstar was... "We should take him back to camp," she voiced shakily. "We should warm him up, back at camp..." Her paws trembled, and she returned to staring at her former leader, though she did not rise from Rainpelt's side.

"We should." Rainpelt licked Featherpaw's ear and got up to take hold of Lichenstar. It was all down hill from here; literally. "Feralclaw, can you give me a hand?"

(I think you mean paw ;D)
"Of cours-" He interupted himself as he picked up one end of Lichenstar gently onto his back, where his muscles could support him the easiest. He allowed Rainpelt to lift up the other end. Carefully, they started down the large Great hill.

Featherpaw crept after them, thoughts once more intruding upon the silence around her.
