Physical Description: Nightshade is a pure black cat. It is all black with no markings. His pelt is silky and smooth and he likes it that way. Sometimes, when the moonlight shines on his pelt, it looks blue. His legs are long and so is his tail. Nightshade's nose and pawpads and are black just like his pelt. His eyes are a metalic blue. They are really bright and seem to blind some cats.
Personality: Nightshade likes to keep to himself; grumbling to himself about different things. He is somewhat grumpy and very touchy. It's very easy to get on the wrong side of him, and you must make a good first impression, otherwise he'll hate you for life. Nightshade is very mysterious.
History: Nightshade started out as Nightkit. His mother loved him dearly because he was her only kit, so it seemed. Nightkit loved her back, but just wanted to be left alone sometimes. A few nights after he had been apprenticed, Nightpaw had been creeping around the moonlit forest when a parrot named Crackers approached him and started talking to him about breaking up the Clans. Nightpaw agreed to help the parrot. In some mysterious way unknown now the Clans broke apart wailing a screeching. A few nights later the surviving leader of GrassClan, Windstar, named him Nightheart. No one, not even the newly named Nightheart, knew that Windstar had named him that because he knew what Nightheart had done and that his heart was as dark and cold as the night. Later, as the Clans came together and Nightheart and Cracker's mission seemed failed, Nightheart sent out searching for the Clan leaders, killing them all in the night. No cat knew how he did it; only that he did. The deputies became leaders and became of Nightheart's presence, who was now in exile. Instead, Nightheart crept into the camps and killed the elders and kits. He did that for moons, never getting caught. He didn't do it too often, but often enough for the new leaders to be fed up with him. One night as Nightheart crept into the GrassClan camp, the new leader, Speckledstar, who was shy and peaceful, saw him. She didn't rise the alarm, but just followed him to the middle of the camp. They both sat down and Speckledstar gave a ceremony that even Nightheart didn't know. There, she renamed him Nightshade because he was like the nightshade that if cats ate they died quickly. Like nightshade, no part of him was good. Then, Speckledstar lept and killed him. He now remains in DemonClan.
In Character (IC): Nightpaw crept around the moonlit moar, tail twitching, as he inspected the territory. A peculiar bird with the colors of the rainbow swooped down beside him. The bird kept making different sounds, until finally it found the right language. It spoke: "Kitty! Oh kitty! What are you doing out here?" Nightpaw looked stuned as he saw his own prey talking to him. "I'm... I'm just out because I wanted to be alone. But clearly that's not going to happen." Nightpaw padded forward, but the bird hopped along beside him. "Kitty! I am a parrot. Not normal bird. I flying high up in the sky when I see a kitty down below." Nightpaw fought the urge to eat it, but knew that the bird might have something to say. He turned to the bird. "What is you name, parrot?" The bird tilted its head and replied,"I'm Crackers. Don't know why, but I suppose that's because my bareskins think I like them." Now it was Nightpaw's turn to tilt his head. "Bareskins? What in StarClan are those?" Crackers hopped up and down. "Um... You cats call them, uh, housefolk?" Nightpaw looked appalled. "Kittypets call them housefolk. We call them Twolegs, nasty things." Crackers hopped closer to Nightpaw. "So... Do you live all alone in big grassland, or do you have camp with lots of kitties?" "Yes, I live in a camp. I live in GrassClan." Crackers tilted his head and Nightpaw sighed. "It's what the group of cats is called. GrassClan." "Oh, okay... Why you all alone now when you could be with other kitties?" Crackers asked. Nightpaw shrugged. "Because I like my time alone." Crackers lowered his head close to the ground and looked up. He whispered,"Is that because you evil? Evil animals like to scheme. Scheming is done alone." Nightpaw considered the thought. "I... I wouldn't say that I'm evil." "Well, then, I guess you can't help me...," Crackers replied sadly and began to hop away. "Wait, can't help you what?" Nightpaw called. Crackers looked back excitedly and soared back. "I hear forest cats like to eat birds. True?" he asked. "Yeeaaah," Nightpaw replied questioningly. "I also hear forest cats come in four groups, including your GrassClan, true?" "Yeeaaah..." "Well, I also hear that the Clans, as you all call them, have, what you would say, society. True?" Nightpaw narrowed his eyes. "What's society?" Crackers seemed to smile. "Oooh, big, big bareskin word. Mean that they all come together in groups, perhaps. And maybe that there is ways to get things peacefully between one another." He shrugged. "Oh, I don't really know, but I do know that if there is no society, all he-" Crackers cleared his throat. "I mean, all bad things will brake lose." He looked to the sky, then back at Nightpaw. "If no society here, then all kitties run around like big storm coming. It takes work to build the society, true?" Nightpaw shrugged. "I don't know." "Well, suppose, that happens? No society here, all kitties run around like stupid and then they won't have each other which means that there will be less chance of them eating me. True?" Nightpaw began to understand. "Yeah..." He paused. "What would I be getting out of any of this?" Crackers puzzled over the thought, then brightened. "You become leader of some of kitties!" Nightpaw liked the sound of that. "But how would this be done?" Crackers again looked puzzled, but then brightened. "Meet me a every night by that stump over there," Crackers swung his head in the direction of the Great Stump,"and we can plan it all out." Nightpaw blinked. "Fine. But don't keep me waiting."
