Rainpelt blinked a tear off her check as she stared at Lichenstar's unmoving body, but then stood up straight. She raced over to the Tallrock and leaped up to the top. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Tallrock for a Clan Meeting!"

Rubyheart turned and padded towards Tallrock. She wondered to herself what Rainpelt was going to say. Most everyone knew that Lichenstar was dead, and those who didn't would find out soon enough. So what was the point of this meeting?
Icefoot, roused by Rainpelt's call, emerged from the warriors' den, where he had been napping. He padded over to Tallrock, wondering why Rainpelt was calling a meeting instead of Lichenstar.

Feralclaw bowed his head and wiped a tear off his eye with his fore-paw. He trotted over to where some other cats were gathering. He pawed over by Featherpaw. "uh.....eh-heh. Sorry for being kinda rude before...." He said stuttering a little. Another of his tears hit the ground as he sat down near Featherpaw to hear what Rainpelt had to say.

Rainpelt looked down at the cats gathering below. I would love to lead them... Something just doesn't feel right! "Cats of HillClan!" she began. "Some of you may not know this. My boarder patrol just got back, and we have terrible news... When we were out Featherpaw discovered Lichenstar ontop of the Great Hill," Rainpelt swung her head to the Great Hill that served as a barrier, protecting the camp. "He... He wasn't alive."

Icefoot froze. Lichenstar was dead? Without thinking, he called out, "Does that mean you'll lead us, Rainpelt?"
Rubyheart contained a yawn. She already knew this, and the whole "Oh no, Lichenstar is dead" thing was starting to get on her nerves. When Icefoot called at his question, she focused again. She had been wondering the same thing herself. Not that there's much to wonder about, she thought to herself.

Rainpelt sighed. "I suppose so..." Now she would have to be Rainstar. That name didn't really seem to suit her.

Featherpaw was silent, not because she was ignoring Feralclaw, but because Rainpelt had begun talking before she could respond. Without words, the apprentice turned to him, eyes light with sorrow and apprehension, and rested her feathery tail on his forepaws. She blinked at him to show her forgiveness, then turned away.

Rainpelt just sat on the Highrock, looking at the stone in front of her paws, thinking and murmuring things to herself. She looked like she was frozen to the spot, except for the twitch of her tail every few seconds and the way it brushed back and forth against the rock.

Feralclaw oddly gazed around at all the other cats kind of quickly. He smiled partially and looked up at Rainpelt, trying to predict in his mind when she was going to say something. Man, we of Hillclan are going to go through some rough times without Lichenstar...But, we are strong and will get through it...

Lichenstar, dead? Spottedpath thought, alarmed, as she sat near the Tallrock. She had tried to talk to him but... she didn't think anything of this extent could have happened!
