(One thing: Who said he was taken by Twolegs? In the thread in which Lichenstar dies, he just dies. If Twolegs are in the area, that could mess up the plot! Please think before you post!)
Rainpelt heard the meows of protest. "I wasn't taken!" she yowled. "I mean, you can clearly see that I'm sitting right here!" She then mumbled,"You stupid mousebrains."
"What if he just died?" Hollystar meowed.
Tornadoclaw was furrious because of the cats yowling at his new leader. But then, why would Amberstar say that Lichenstar had been taken when they had found his body in the woods?
Pumaheart gasped slightly. Lichenstar? Dead?! She had known him for a long time, and he had just become leader when she was apprenticed. She remembered when HillClan's leader before Lichenstar, Frozenstar, had given up his last life to save some kits that weren't even from his own Clan from a dog. That had been a true leader. She remembered Lichenstar's first gathering, in which he had repeated some of Frozenstar's last words: They were special, and a silver glow came from them. It was as though StarClan wanted me to help them... And now Lichenstar too was gone. Pumaheart was suddenly feeling much older than she really was. Being able to see 3 different leaders from one Clan at a time? That's almost impossible!
Birdpaw was amazed and he looked at Pumaheart for reassurance, but there was nothing there, for she looked almost as shocked as if StarClan themselves had died. He looked to Mistypaw.

Mistypaw blinked. "That's terrible..." she said, so softly she could barely hear herself. She stared up at the leaders, her eyes wide.

Birdpaw saw how shocked Mistypaw looked herself, and he thought desparately to find a solution. All he could do was lick her ear. Once he did it though he regretted it. He hardly knew her, so he should have just looked at her with comforting eyes or said something nice.
Rainpelt sat muttering things at the bottom of the Great Rock.
Pumaheart didn't know what to think. She had known Lichenstar for a long time now; almost all of her life.

Mistypaw glanced at Birdpaw in slight surprise. "It's so sad that Lichenstar's dead," she said softly. "He's been leader ever since I was born and before that, too. How do you think that HillClan can handle this?" She had no idea why she was still talking, so she fell silent.
Lakeheart, who had already known this, just sighed. She had felt the same sense of loss when the leader before Lichenstar died. She turned, hearing Mistypaw's quiet ramblings. "It's hard to lose your leader," she said slowly, and quietly. "May StarClan give the current leaders many moons to live..." She, too, fell silent.
Brightstar, who had been silent all through this, just sighed softly. She had experienced a leader from her Clan dying, of course- otherwise she wouldn't have been a leader herself. But still, it was strange to think that Lichenstar was gone. She glanced at the stars, and wondered, Is Lichenstar watching this Gathering? I wonder how he feels if he is... Is he mourning with us, or is he feeling a mixture of happyness of being with his warrior ancestors, and sadness that he's not with HillClan?

Hollystar was somewhat shocked. Just at the last Gathering Lichenstar was here on the Great Rock, adressing to the Clans of the forest. She looked to the spot where he used to sit. It was now occupied by Amberstar. She stared and stared, and for a moment she saw Lichenstar's shape, his eyes like stars. His gaze rested on the Clans below, then he turned to the other leaders. Then he looked at her. Hollystar blinked and the image was gone.
Birdpaw shrugged, but not in a dismissing kind of way. "I don't know. I wouldn't be too worried," though he was," because newleaf is on the way and they have a fresh new leader to help them."

"Maybe you're right," Mistypaw said. "Newleaf can't be far off, and all of the Clans will do better, then. You're probably right, actually." She paused, then added, "Do you know why Rainpelt wasn't made leader?"

"We can only guess," murmured Jynxivy in a subdued tone, twitching her tail slightly.

Birdpaw shrugged. "Maybe she didn't want to and StarClan said that she didn't have to... Maybe she was even the cat who chose him to be leader instead of her. I have no idea... Maybe we should ask her after the Gathering?"
Pumaheart looked at him. "You two go ahead, but I wouldn't want to upset her."

"I don't think I'd want to ask her," Mistypaw said. "She's probably pretty upset right now."

(Are any more of the leaders going to go?"
"Well, I'll go and ask her then," Birdpaw meowed.

"Okay," Mistypaw said.
Brightstar glanced at the other leaders. None of them stepped forward, so Brightstar padded to the edge of the rock. "It's horrible news that Lichenstar has died," Brightstar said. "TreeClan has not suffered any losses, luckily. We are all doing well, despite the fact that it's leaf-bare." She stepped back once more, satisfied with her report.

Hollystar nodded and stepped forward. "WaterClan is thriving now that one of our apprentices is soon going to be made a warrior and three of our kits are soon to be made apprentices. Prey is in good supply and it should be getting better now that Newleaf is on its way." She dipped her head to show that she was done.

Pigeonstar, though still curious about Amberstar's hasty report, resigned himself to reporting, as he was the last leader left. "GrassClan has been blessed this past moon," he started, blinking kindly down at the cats beneath him. "As many of you know, Jasmineheart had been close to kitting at the last Gathering, and now has three healthy kits. GrassClan is not as bothered by the cold as we were last leafbare, and we still find our prey plentiful." Pigeonstar nodded, and looked around after stepping back. "So, umm..."

Hollystar rolled her eyes and called to the cats below,"The Gathering is over!" She leaped down from her place on the Great Rock and started gathering together the WaterClan cats.

Hollystar rolled her eyes and called to the cats below,"The Gathering is over!" She leaped down from her place on the Great Rock and started gathering together the WaterClan cats.
Birdpaw dipped his head to Pumaheart. "Bye Pumaheart." He turned to Mistypaw. "I hope to see you at the next Gathering." He twitched his ears to the rest of the cats as if to say 'Good bye' and found Rainpelt standing below the Great Rock. "Rainpelt, um, I wanted to ask you something." He glanced over to Mistypaw, then turned back to Rainpelt. "Why is it that you didn't become leader, even though you were the deputy?"
Rainpelt narrowed her eyes at the WaterClan apprentice. "I'm still deputy now."
Birdpaw shrugged. "Yeah, but why didn't you become leader when Lichenstar died?"
"Because I didn't feel it was right at the moment," she replied sternly. "I like being deputy, and although I'd like to lead my Clan, I don't think I should for a while." Her gaze traveled over to where Amberstar was, and then meowed to Birdpaw,"Amberstar will lead for a while."
"But Amberstar is young! You can't expect him to get old and lose all nine of his lives in your life time," Birdpaw gulped,"Can you?"
"I don't know, but for now my destiny is to lead my Clan as a deputy." Rainpelt narrowed her eyes again. She couldn't believe she'd told not just a cat from another Clan, but an apprentice from another Clan so much. "You better run along to where your Clan is gathering," she warned, and with that she padded away.
Birdpaw, relieved that he hadn't gotten his face ripped off, wandered over to where Hollystar and the rest of WaterClan was.

Mistypaw glanced around. Only WaterClan had started gathering together yet, so she dashed over, and skidded to a stop next to Birdpaw. "See you around!" she said, and then darted away again.
Brightstar leapt down to the ground, and flicked her tail, signaling to anyone who was watching that they'd be gathering over by the TreeClan side of the clearing. She padded over there to wait.
Lakeheart stood up. "Well, good-bye then," she said, not sure if anyone was listening. Then, she got up and went to go and figure out where Amberstar was getting the Clan together.

Jynxivy quickly caught up to Hollystar, though she could feel her short legs quietly protesting after sitting so long. "What did you think of this Amberstar?" she asked as she left along with the rest of WaterClan.
Lightfoot blinked back into reality and saw Brightstar hop off the rock. A little crestfallen that she had to leave without really meeting some one new, the young she-cat stepped lightly as she left. "Bye, Mistypaw," she called to the apprentice as she ran back from saying goodbye to Birdpaw. The tom had already left, which Lightfoot was also a little sorry for.
Pigeonstar sighed and shook the cold from his silky white pelt, relaxing himself before jumping of the GreatRock with what looked like an elongated step. "GrassClan, follow," he invited softly, quickly gathering his Clan with his eyes, nodding, and making his way with a pace set by him and no one else. "Goodbye, Amberstar," he said to the remaining leader, and nodded to Brightstar as he saw her. Hollystar, impatient as ever, had already left.

(Not exactly)
Hollystar looked back at her medicine cat. "I don't know. He seems... Quite different. But perhaps that's better. If he leads the Clan differently maybe it will bring HillClan to good things, but all we can do now is wait and see."
Birdpaw glided past and over cats' heads. He caught up to WaterClan and ran up behind Jynxivy.
Rainpelt, mystified about what was all happening so fast, stood near Amberstar blankly.
Tornadoclaw neaded his paws into the ground. He was standing next to Brightstar and was unusually quiet.

Jynxivy nodded slightly as if saying, "Ah, I see your point...", then slowed a bit for Birdpaw to catch up so they could walk side by side. "So. You and Mistypaw talked a lot these Gathering." She paused, and in that short moment she glanced at the young tom's eyes. "Did you learn anything knew?" she finished.

"Well, not from her. But I found that Jasmineheart had her kits from Pumaheart. She had one tom and three she-kits. There names were..." Birdpaw searched his mind. "Sparklekit and... Oh, Creamkit and Bluekit. She told me that they were really cute." He sensed something from Jynxivy, but lost it once he actually thought of it. Birdpaw yawned and meowed,"It'll be nice. Going to sleep, I mean."
