Jasmineheart awoke to a soft wind blowing through the nursery. She yawned and stretched.

Ugh. He hated mornings. Especially windy mornings.
Pigeonstar blinked awake, yawning as he did so and attempted to curl back into sleep, much like a kit, by snuggling against the closest being. Then he remembered that he was a leader, and therefore should be awake anyways, and should definitely NOT snuggle. He sprang to his feet, smoothing down his ruffled fur with a few licks, and reminding himself to be more reasonable during the early hours.
The leader ventured outside, making a dreary list of things he had to do before the day was over. "Haven't checked the nursery in a bit," he mumbled thoughtfully, glancing over to where the den was. "Perhaps I'll pay Jasmineheart a visit."
"Morning," the tom purred softly, already forgetting that he was exhausted. "I'm surprised you're up. Did the wind get to you, too?"

Jasmineheart looked up. "Oh, good morning Pigeonstar. Yes, the wind woke me up. But it's not too bad. It's a nice warm breeze..." Jasmineheart closed her eyes for a moment but then got up and brushed past Pigeonstar out into the clearing. She purred when she saw that the freshkill pile was full. She grabbed a rabbit and settled down to eat, glancing up at Pigeonstar.
(Just so you know, the seasons of the Clans go according to real life. So when it's winter here, it's winter in the Clans' world. Get it?)

He followed her, not really seeing a point to standing alone in the nursery.
"Hm. The winds can be unpredictable these days. Perhaps...we should fix the nursery up a bit more. Then we won't have to do it when Leaffall actually comes."
(I'm assuming it's nearly Leaffall?)

(Yes, although it's still warm outside. And if we want, when there's a snowstorm or a thunderstorm here, there could be one in the Clans' world)
"That would be a good idea. I don't want my kits to get an illness when it could've been prevented," Jasmineheart agreed. She looked at her leader with eyes saying, come and share some freshkill with me.
Pumaheart crepted out of the Warriors Den, some of her bones cracking. I guess I'm not as young as I used to be! she thought. Pumaheart saw Pigeonstar and Jasmineheart nearby. "Good morning," she meowed to them both as cheerfully as she could. A warm breeze blew through the camp and ruffled her fur.

Pigeonstar studied the newcomer briefly before taking the invite to share with Jasmineheart. I'd forgotten. Pumaheart is nearly as old as I am... She's really making an effort to hide discomfort nowadays. The leader took a small mouse from the pile and settled near the queen, waving Pumaheart over with his tail. "Good morning, Pumaheart. Sleep well, I hope?"

"Yes, although I had a horrible dream that a dog was chasing me. I thought of myself too old to run fast enough and... I woke up," Pumaheart mewed. She knew she sounded like a kit telling it's mother about a bad dream, but she didn't really care.

He nodded sympathetically. "Dreams are odd things, Pumaheart. But I wouldn't examine that one too closely." His whiskers twitched to reassure her. "You're a great warrior." "I myself dreamed of being a kit. It was...a weird experience, to say the least."

"I wouldn't think that it would be too weird though, because you were once a kit yourself," Pumaheart replied. She padded over to the fresh kill pile and chose a vole. She settled down to eat so she was facing both Pigeonstar and Jasmineheart.
"So," Jasmineheart began as Pumaheart chose her fresh kill and padded over to them to eat. "When will some cats help patch up the nursery?" Jasmineheart asked. "I could help them. Even though I'll be having kits soon, I'm not crippled," Jasmineheart insisted.

Pigeonstar shook his head sternly. "No, Jasmineheart, you need rest. Being a queen is something to take seriously." Then he switched his gaze to Pumaheart. "Pumaheart, would you mind helping to fix the nursery? I'll also see if Falconflight or Mistypaw would mind, but you would be their overseer."

Pumaheart's eyes blazed. "But of course I'll get to help too?" she meowed calmly, although she was filled with anger.
(Pumaheart doesn't really want to think of herself too old to do things...)

"Of course," Pigeonstar mewed, sounding a little surprised. "What, did you think you wouldn't be? It would get done quickly with three cats helping, even if one of them is an apprentice." He scraped the dirt with his claws for a few minutes. "Quiet morning..." he muttered to no one in particular.

Jasmineheart finished her fresh kill. "Well, could I do something that isn't too hard? I've been just sitting around camp eating our fresh kill for a few moons now," Jasmineheart mewed.
Pumaheart swiped her tongue over her jaw as she finished up her fresh kill.

Pigeonstar thought about it. "I...suppose. But you'd have to suggest something. My mind's a blank right at this moment. Any ideas, Pumaheart?"
(Wheee...short posts.)

Pumaheart paused for a moment. "Well, she could gather leaves and things from the clearing so we could use it for patching up the nursery," she suggested.

"If you would like, Jasmineheart, you may start with that," the leader said, still looking slightly uncertain.
(Blehh...serious writer's block.)

"I'll get started right away; at least it's better than sleeping all day," Jasmineheart mewed.
(Today I went to this really cool apple orchid(sp?) and had breakfast there even though the pancakes are horrible and we got to walk around and look at the goats and donkeys. They had a kitty that didn't come by us and they had an Emu that was really tall. There was even a corn maze. We got to chase a chicken and there was this really cool thing there made of hay bails and there are three layers. You can go through the tunnels and it was ausome(sp?). The only part about it that I wasn't too crazy about was when I was climbing the hay bail I put my hand in some chicken poop...)

Mistypaw bounced out of the apprentices' den, and looked around excitedly. After about half a minute of standing almost still, the little apprentice trotted over to the fresh-kill pile, and got herself something to eat. The tabby apprentice was full of energy even this early in the morning.

Jasmineheart nodded to Mistypaw. "Good morning Mistypaw," she mewed in a sweet voice.
"Morning Mistypaw. Your energy will come in handy this morning. Would you like to help me patch up the nursery?" Pumaheart asked the apprentice.

Pigeonstar ate quietly. Many she-cats up this morning...Where are all the toms?
(Sorry. XD Random thought I had. I think there are only two toms "officially" in GrassClan.)
