"And you said...?" Cinderheart's tone was flat. He really couldn't care less, but here was Nightshade, and there was nothing better to do than talk to him. [/blockquote]

repeat it, since you might once again forget what I said." He sniffed and padded back over to the Black Pool. "It's a shame..." [/ul]

"It's not a shame, really," Cinderheart said. "Seeing as I couldn't care less." The tom padded across the clearing, and settled down next to the Black Pool. "You and Foxstar were looking at this earlier." He didn't continue his trail of thought, and leaned down to nose the water instead.

He contemplated for a moment if this cat had been a retard at birth. "I meant something ELSE! And don't act so clueless; you know that this is the Black Pool." [/ul]

Cinderheart raised an eyebrow. "So snappy. I was simply replying that it wasn't a shame that I didn't know what you said, and I couldn't care less, which means I couldn't care less if that's what you meant or not." He glanced at the pool, and then back at Nightshade. "I know this is the Black Pool, too. I was trying to prompt you into explaining why you and Foxstar were staring at it." Cinderheart rolled his eyes. "Really. The stupidity of some cats..." [/blockquote]

Nightshade huffed. "And, still, you refuse to believe that I didn't mean that it's a shame in the way that you think I did. Honestly..." He clawed at the earth below him. "And yet you think that I couldn't figure out what you were saying? Really, you had better not call me dumb, for I could actually understand what you were saying. A miracle, I'd say."Nightshade sniffed at the pool and thought for a moment. Heh, he doesn't need to know anything about the Black Pool... "Well, then, you had better not stay too long. I'm sure that your mother is worried about you and would like to give you a bath." He smiled and wondered how long it would take for Cinderheart to figure out what he had meant this time. [/ul]

"Was that supposed to be an insult, calling me a kit?" Cinderheart stared at Nightshade with complete boredom. "I'm amazed. You can actually try to insult someone. Bravo." The grey tom sighed. "Well, then. Seeing as we've gotten your surprising inability to insult someone out of the way, we'll move on to what you and Foxstar were looking at in the Pool. Or I could simply find Foxstar. He's a cat of some... shall we say, brains." Cinderheart said the words in tone that was flat, and yet condescending. He had spent many long moons perfecting the art.

involve the other cat to go running home. And, really, you are no wise cat. I've been here before you great-great-great-great-ancestors were even kits. A real cat with brains, so you call it, would know what is wrong with the Black Pool." He placed his tail over his paws. "Don't even try to act calm. I know that it's all an act." [/ul]

Cinderheart blinked, a slow, bored blink. "Nightshade, I never claimed to be a wise cat. The rank I hold within this Clan is Second Head Cat, not wise cat. And, you know, I've been here for a long time. This has become my Clan more than any of the living Clans have." The tom swept his tail in an arc, so that it rested near his paws. "And, by the way, I am not acting calm. I'm just bored, and, if you didn't know, when you're bored, insults and the like seem to just bounce off you."

able to comprehend anything? I, once again, didn't mean THAT. I meant that you aren't wise, and that you would never be able to have the honor to be one, since you obviously are in some way challenged." He narrowed his eyes. "And I don't really care that you've been here for a long time. I'm saying that I'VE been here longer. Since the Clans were young and still fragile." [/ul]

The tom narrowed his eyes. "Nightshade, you really are an idiot. Who cares about how long you've dwelt here? I certainly don't. Even if you were the first cat to join DemonClan, I don't care. Age is immaterial here. You could be older than Witheredstar, and yet I would not care. Age does not exist when you are dead." Cinderheart returned his eyes to their normal position. "Now, if you don't mind, you can get over the whole I've-been-here-longer-than-you thing and explain what you and Foxstar were debating about. What you were looking at in the Black Pool." do not understand what I am saying! Gosh, I swear... I did NOT mean that. I MEANT that I've experienced more. I know more than you. I could tell you all about your past. I know everyone's past except for the ones before me, which are few in number. Age is worthless here, but experience is not." Nightshade really wanted to give him a good nip on the ear for sassing his elders. But all he did was stretch; his front legs extended and his rump in the air. Then he sat again. "You had better start to care. Not caring about things doesn't make you stronger. It makes you weaker. You had better understand that, because some things you must care about."Nightshade smiled. "And, if I don't recall, I said that if you were smart enough, you'd know what was wrong with the Black Pool. Foxstar and I were debating about it." [/ul]

Cinderheart sighed. "You said that you were older, not more experienced. I will agree that experience is something that is good, and you are experienced. That is something you have gained through time. However, you do not have the same experiences as me, so it is worthless to compare them. Unless two cats have gone through the same experiences, you can't compare them by experiences." Cinderheart knew that his words would probably be snapped at, but he didn't care. He thought they were right, and that was that. "And about caring- I do care about some things. You, Nightshade, just aren't one of them." The tom sat, and waited for a reply. It was Nightshade's turn to reply. [/blockquote]

by saying that I was older was that I was more experienced. Besides, what experiences did you go through that weren't important enough for me to look into the Black Pool and see it for myself. If your experiences were at all important, then I have seen you and everyone around you go through them." "And in life," Nightshade continued, "you would have cared about me, that I would have taken your life if you had said one word that I didn't like. Now, eh, I supposed you wouldn't have to care, but then why were you asking me questions, if you supposedly don't care?" Clearly he had once again thought of the perfect come back. [/ul]

The grey tom sat silent for a moment, thinking. "You asked why I am asking questions. It's because while I don't care about you the knowledge you have is of interest to me. And how am I supposed to learn if I do not ask questions?" He paused, smiling, before continuing. "Nightshade, you have more experiences- experiences that I have not had. And while you watched my life, through the Black Pool, I was the one actually experiencing it. I believe that you can't actually say that you have the experience of that situation unless you were actually there. And so I have the knowledge I gained from my life, and you have yours. If we all learn from each other instead of fighting, we can become mighty- even more powerful than we already are. "Do you understand that, Nightshade?" [/blockquote]

He blinked away the murky air around him. "You still talk to me as if I were a kit. And like I said, you should start caring more. I can still do you damage. Everyone says that you can't experience pain after death, but it's possible.""I believe that we can become more powerful from learning from each other, but you have to realize that you are in this fight as well. If you believe that we shouldn't fight, why are you fighting now?" [/ul]

The grey tom sat still for a long moment. After a long moment, he replied,
"Then we should all work together. If Snowstar's plan to take over the Clans is to succeed, even we who remain here must cooperate. Otherwise how are we to rule everything and defeat StarClan?"

Cinderheart nodded. "You and Foxstar were puzzling over the Black Pool. Is it not working?" He swiveled his head to look at the pool in question.
((By the way, Arcticfeather//Brightstar is finding a pool covered in shadows so that she can communicate with DemonClan. So that's why Cinderheart is mentioning it- so that she can appear in it while they're looking at it.))
